DEACON'S ''LONG DARK ROAD'' UP-LOADED Thanks to internet-savvy blues enthusiasts, several video clips of Deacon have been up-loaded to YouTube. These clips give glimpses of some of the landmark phases in Deacon's incredible musical carreer of 40-plus years - what Deacon mysteriously calls his ''Long Dark Road.'' Ominous though this might sound, Deacon is actually a jovial and crowd-pleasing entertainer. Ever a twinkle in his eye, he loves a good joke and loves to laugh. Freddie King: Blues Band Shuffle - This clip shows an Afro-haired Deacon in a circa 1973 appearance with the great Freddie King. As the master guitar slinger tears off an unbelievable boogie, Deacon gets busy at the Hammond B-3, showing off some pretty amazing chops of his own. John Lee Hooker and Friends Live 1984-1992 (part 1) - Deacon is only occsionally visible on camera in this clip, however, his tastefull and sensitive call-and-response style comping can be heard throughout, giving evidence to his consederable talents as an accompanist. Long Live The Blues 3 - This clip is from a video made in 2001. Deacon talks about his history, his recordings and his reasons for settling down in Los Angeles. Interspersed with this, is Deacon and his Bucket of Blues Band, performing his humerous composition, Pass The Biscuits. Tribute to Pappo - This is from a 2006 concert event in Argentina. There were 20,000 people at this concert, which was given to honor the late, beloved blues artist ''Pappo'' Napolitano. Deacon was a close friend of Pappo, and is himself, a celebrated figure in Argentina. He actually has a day named in his honor there! That's right, May 10 is Deacon Jones Day in Argentina. Do they love the blues in Argentina, or what? Boom Boom - In the Summer of 2008, Deacon appeared at the San Francisco Bues Festival with the Coast To Coast Blues Band in ''A Tribute to John Lee Hooker.'' The clip from this outing shows Deacon performing with singer Kathy McDonald, who belts out an electrifying, tour de force rendition of John Lee Hooker's Boom Boom.
